Position Overview

 

Caruco Law is seeking an experienced Of Counsel – Criminal Defense Attorney to join our legal team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in criminal defense and a strong understanding of Florida criminal law and procedure. This position is ideal for an attorney looking for a flexible arrangement while maintaining an active role in complex and high-stakes criminal cases.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

- Represent clients in felony, misdemeanor, DUI, and federal criminal cases at both the trial and appellate levels. - Conduct legal research, draft motions, briefs, and other court filings.

- Provide strategic counsel to clients throughout the litigation process, including plea negotiations, evidentiary hearings, and trial preparation.

- Handle court appearances, depositions, and oral arguments as necessary.

- Collaborate with Caruco Law’s legal team on case strategy, discovery, and defense planning.

- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in Florida and federal criminal law.

 

Qualifications

 

- Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

- Licensed to practice law in Florida and in good standing with the Florida Bar.

- Minimum 5+ years of experience in criminal defense litigation, including trial experience.

- Strong knowledge of Florida criminal statutes, case law, and court procedures.

- Experience in federal criminal defense is a plus.

- Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.

- Ability to manage multiple cases independently while collaborating with the firm’s legal team.

- Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

Compensation is based on a revenue-sharing model, commensurate with experience and case involvement.
