Position Overview

 

Caruco Law is seeking an experienced Of Counsel – Criminal Defense Attorney to join our legal team on a contract basis. The ideal candidate will have significant experience in criminal defense and a strong understanding of Florida criminal law and procedure. This position is ideal for an attorney looking for a flexible arrangement while maintaining an active role in complex and high-stakes criminal cases.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Represent clients in felony, misdemeanor, DUI, and federal criminal cases at both the trial and appellate levels. Conduct legal research, draft motions, briefs, and other court filings.

Provide strategic counsel to clients throughout the litigation process, including plea negotiations, evidentiary hearings, and trial preparation.

Handle court appearances, depositions, and oral arguments as necessary.

Collaborate with Caruco Law’s legal team on case strategy, discovery, and defense planning.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of changes in Florida and federal criminal law.

 

Qualifications

 

Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.

Licensed to practice law in Florida and in good standing with the Florida Bar.

Minimum 5+ years of experience in criminal defense litigation, including trial experience.

Strong knowledge of Florida criminal statutes, case law, and court procedures.

Experience in federal criminal defense is a plus.

Excellent written and oral advocacy skills.Ability to manage multiple cases independently while collaborating with the firm’s legal team.

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.

Compensation is based on a revenue-sharing model, commensurate with experience and case involvement.
